National Nurses Week 2023: You Make a Difference

By Judy Kelly, Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer

National Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2023) is an opportunity for us to celebrate Milford Regional’s talented and committed Nursing team. The theme for 2023 Nurses Month is You Make a Difference, to honor your varying roles and the positive impact you have on patients, families and co-workers.

National Nurses Week honors the contributions and sacrifices of nurses and gives us the opportunity to thank our amazing team of nurses at Milford Regional. It is celebrated between May 6, National Nurses Day, and May 12, the birthdate of celebrated nurse Florence Nightingale. A hero in our field, she inspired her colleagues and advocated for quality of care. The talent, dedication and loyalty demonstrated by our Milford Regional nursing team pays tribute to Nightingale and other giants in our field.

You Make a Difference to our patients and each other every day. Our more than 550 nurses are the heartbeat of Milford Regional. Our nurses are on the frontline with patients and continue to step up with compassion, integrity and skill.

Much like Nightingale’s example inspires our profession, the care and concern Milford Regional nurses deliver on an hourly and daily basis are a tremendous source of inspiration to me. As I round and otherwise observe our nursing and care teams in action on the floors and outpatient services, there is no doubt our patients are on the receiving end of an exceptional level of care. Thanks to the work of our hardworking nurses.

This year once again, members of our nursing team shared clinical narratives, which celebrate the contributions of our nurses and the impact they have as professionals on patients, families and co-workers. These recorded narratives underscore the important impact and influence of our noble profession.

I offer my utmost appreciation to the women and men who comprise our nursing team at Milford Regional. Your work is appreciated as we advance our mission of providing exceptional healthcare services to our community with dignity, compassion and respect.
