Milford Regional Nurses: Simply The Best!

National Nurses Week provides us with the opportunity to remind our hospital community and the general public of the critical role that nurses play in healthcare. This year’s theme is “Nursing: The Balance of Mind, Body and Spirit.”  Nurses week allows us time to focus on the compassionate care that our nurses at Milford Regional Medical Center provide to our patients.

This years’ theme speaks to nurses and to patients.  Nursing has long been described as both a science and an art. Health is more than physical well-being. It involves body, mind and spirit and how they all interact with one another. Nurses care for patients’ needs with clinical competence and expertise along with human compassion. They interact with patients in their most vulnerable times with small acts of kindness.

It is also important to reflect on the importance of caring for our nurse’s health and wellness. If nurses are to fulfill their roles as exceptional, competent and compassionate caregivers, it is essential that they first care for themselves in mind, body, and spirit. Healthy nurses focus on creating and maintaining a balance of physical, intellectual and emotional wellbeing.  Evidence shows that healthy nurses improve morale, safety, recruitment and retention, which ultimately leads to better patient care and improved patient and nurse satisfaction.

Last year we began our journey to develop a mission statement for nursing. We want nursing to have a voice at Milford Regional.  We asked our nurses what was important to them. We took their feedback to develop a mission statement for nursing. It speaks to what exceptional care and evidence based practice look like at Milford Regional Medical Center.  We are very proud of the mission statement that was developed by our nurses.

Extraordinary staff providing exceptional care to our community in a genuinely caring environment. Every Patient, Every Day.

As we celebrate our nursing profession and recognize our colleagues I would like to thank our dedicated team of nurses at Milford Regional Medical Center for providing exceptional care to our patients and our community. Your commitment to excellence in nursing practice and patient care is recognized and appreciated by the MRMC leadership team, physicians, staff, patients and families every day.  It is my pleasure to learn and grow with you as we demonstrate that Milford Regional Medical Center nurses are simply the best!  Happy Nurses Week to each and every one of you.
